New-style HTML5 immersive applications won't be distributed as HTAs, but many of the same principles are likely to apply. Like HTAs before them, they'll gain greater access to operating system functionality than regular webpages—so they'll be able to call Windows APIs and have a user interface that feels less like a webpage, more like a native application.
